1. Pine Valley
Pine Valley is located in New Jersey in the United States. It was founded in 1913 by a group of amateur golfers. Every hole is something of a welcome challenge amongst pros.
• Best Hole – The par three 5th, which is 220 yards over a lake to a small and sloping green.
2. Cypress Point
Cypress Point is on the Monterey peninsula in California. It was designed in 1928 and has some of the best holes in the world, including the dramatic 15th, 16th and 17th which overlook the Pacific Ocean.
• Best Hole – Take your pick from the par three 15th, par three 16th, or the par four 17th.
3. Augusta National
Augusta National is located in Georgia in the United States and is one of the most famous courses in the world, mainly because it plays host to The Masters. It is a very exclusive club with a very strict member’s policy, yet the course itself is nothing short of magnificent.
• Best Hole – The incredibly difficult par three 12th has a tiny green that is protected by a lake and big bunkers. Only the brave score well there.
4. St Andrews (Old Course)
St Andrews in Scotland is known as the home of golf and is one of the oldest golf courses in the world. People have been hitting small balls around it since the 15th century. There are seven golf courses on the site today, of which the Old Course is the best.
• Best Hole – The par four 17th, known as The Road Hole, requires a blind tee shot aimed directly at a hotel.
5. Pebble Beach
Pebble Beach in California is an utterly stunning golf course. It is a championship caliber course and is famous the world over. It is not cheap to play, though, as a round will cost you more than it costs to buy an iPad.
• Best Hole – The long, par four, dogleg 8th.
6. Royal County Down
Royal County Down is in Northern Ireland. It is a links golf course and is one of the oldest in Ireland. It is challenging, scenic, and consistently makes it into top five lists of the best golf courses outside of America.
• Best Hole – The breathtaking par three 4th.
7. Royal Melbourne (East / West)
Royal Melbourne is an Australian course founded in 1891. There are two courses – the East Course and the West Course. The best holes on both make the East / West, or Composite, Course.
• Best Hole – The 16th, which is a long and heavily bunkered par three.
8. Shinnecock Hills
Shinnecock Hills is a links-style course on Long Island in New York. It has hosted major tournaments and is one of the oldest golf courses in the United States.
• Best Hole – The unconventional, undulating par four 10th.
9. Muirfield
Muirfield is a links course in Scotland overlooking the Firth of Forth. This sandy, windswept course has hosted The Open Championship 15 times and is a favorite of Jack Nicklaus.

10. Cape Kidnappers
This unusually named golf course is located in New Zealand. It is easily the most beautiful setting of any course in the world.
